In early November, Mr. Jack, Chairman and CEO of ASIMCO Technologies Co., Ltd., once again visited Yizheng in Jiangsu — a place he's well familiar with, known as the "Hometown of China’s Piston Rings." This time, he led his high-tech partner to further expand cooperation in the auto parts industry and enhance the technical standards of existing projects. For over a decade, ASIMCO has successfully partnered with Yizheng on the piston ring project, often referred to as the "heart" of the engine. This collaboration has helped establish a globally recognized benchmark company that plays a key role in the local economy. The manufacturing bases in Yizheng are closely aligned with international market demands.
Yizheng supplies more than 2,000 types of piston rings annually, with nearly 200 million units shipped worldwide. It not only dominates the domestic market but also leads globally. Located in the Yangtze River Delta, Yizheng was once renowned for its large hardtop Jeep production base, the Dawn Auto Manufacturing Plant, and the largest piston ring production facility in China — Yizheng Double Ring Piston Ring Co., Ltd. Through the introduction of advanced German and Japanese technology and equipment, the company secured $26 million in foreign investment, forming a Sino-U.S. joint venture called "Shuanghuan."
For 18 consecutive years, Shuanghuan has maintained strong production and sales performance, becoming a key supplier for over 100 major engine manufacturers across China. Seven out of every ten piston rings used in the country come from Yizheng Shuanghuan. On average, more than 250 new products are launched annually, keeping pace with developed countries like Japan and Germany in materials and equipment. Some of their techniques have been leading the nation for over a decade, creating a unique competitive edge. As a result, Shuanghuan has ranked among China’s top 500 machinery and automotive component companies.
To adapt to the evolving global procurement and modular supply structure, Yizheng is accelerating the integration of local engine parts suppliers. ASIMCO Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. expanded its operations by investing $12 million to establish Yizheng ASIMCO Casting Co., Ltd., aiming to build a first-class casting center that meets Japanese, Korean, and European/American standards, producing 120 million piston ring blanks annually. ASIMCO also leveraged its global expertise to offer a full range of camshaft products, with an estimated $30 million investment in a dedicated camshaft project, focusing on supporting the top three U.S. automakers.
Coincidentally, Japanese NPR Company, a long-term technical partner of Yizheng, collaborated with ASIMCO and Shuanghuan to form Yizheng Rihuan ASIMCO Co., Ltd., jointly building a steel strip ring project to produce high-grade piston rings for cars and mini-cars. All these projects are now operational. Recently, the French PSA Peugeot Citroën team conducted a comprehensive on-site evaluation of Yizheng’s "Shuanghuan" company and concluded that Yizheng’s double-ring piston rings hold a certain level of international competitiveness and have great potential for future collaboration.
As industries around the world gather momentum, Yizheng is strengthening its position by building professional engine parts clusters, enhancing global logistics capabilities, and laying a solid foundation for entering the international auto parts supply system. With partnerships like Daewoo Heavy Industries in South Korea and Iveco in Turkey, sales of Yizheng’s double-ring piston rings in the U.S., Canada, and Europe have surged. In recent years, the company has reached a sales scale of over 1 billion yuan.
