According to recent reports from South Korea, Rotem, a leading manufacturer of railway vehicles in the country, has unveiled what is now considered the world's largest hydraulic press designed specifically for automotive steel sheet production. This groundbreaking machine boasts a massive 54,000-ton capacity and meets all European safety standards (CE). The press is capable of producing an average of 15 steel sheets per minute, with an annual output reaching approximately 300,000 units.
The company announced that the first unit will be transferred to a Slovak-based legal partner by the end of this month. Rotem also highlighted that this technology could significantly reduce the country’s annual steel import costs by around $100 million. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its market presence by exporting the hydraulic press to North America in the coming years.
This development marks a major milestone in the global automotive manufacturing industry, showcasing South Korea’s growing influence in advanced industrial equipment. With its combination of scale, efficiency, and compliance with international standards, Rotem’s hydraulic press is set to make a strong impact on the global stage.
