After completing the reconstruction and expansion of three ethylene production units, Maoming Petrochemical successfully concluded the construction of its 2.6 million tons/year diesel hydrofining unit on July 21, marking its readiness for full-scale operation. This significant milestone is part of a broader initiative to meet increasingly stringent environmental standards and improve fuel quality across the country.
In line with the national plan, domestic oil products were expected to fully comply with the Euro III standard by 2010, following the implementation of the Euro II standard in July 2005. To support this transition, Maoming Petrochemical invested 1.23 billion yuan in a comprehensive refinery upgrade project. Among the key components of this project was the construction of the new diesel hydrofining unit, which required an investment of 360 million yuan.
The facility, which began construction in January 2005, was completed in just 18 months, demonstrating the company's efficiency and commitment to high-quality execution. Once operational, the unit will increase Maoming Petrochemical’s diesel hydrorefining capacity to over 5 million tons per year, ensuring that all produced diesel meets the Euro III standard. This development not only enhances the company’s competitiveness but also contributes to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
