"Science III" began sea trial

China's most advanced marine research vessel, the "Science No. 3," officially departed from Wuchang Shipyard on July 8 and arrived in Shanghai on July 12, marking the start of its sea trial phase. The ship is expected to travel northward to Qingdao, where it will undergo comprehensive system testing and commissioning. Once completed, it will be handed over to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in August and officially put into service. According to recent reports, the "Science No. 3" is designed to support a wide range of scientific research activities, including marine geology, marine biology, environmental monitoring, and meteorological studies across the Yellow Sea, Bohai Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. This state-of-the-art vessel is expected to significantly enhance China's capability in oceanic research and contribute valuable data for sustainable marine development. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and advanced laboratory facilities, the ship will serve as a mobile research platform for scientists and researchers. Its mission includes deep-sea exploration, climate change studies, and biodiversity assessments, playing a crucial role in understanding and protecting China's marine ecosystems. The launch of the "Science No. 3" marks an important milestone in China's efforts to strengthen its presence in oceanic science and technological innovation.
