"Science III" began sea trial

China's most advanced marine research vessel, the "Science No. 3," departed from the Wuchang Shipyard on July 8 and arrived in Shanghai on July 12 to begin its sea trial phase. Following this, the ship will head north toward Qingdao, where it will undergo comprehensive system testing and commissioning. It is expected to be officially handed over to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in August and then deployed for scientific missions across various regions of China’s seas. Once operational, the "Science No. 3" will conduct extensive research in marine geology, biology, environmental science, and meteorology in the Yellow Sea, Bohai Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. The vessel represents a significant advancement in China’s maritime scientific capabilities, offering state-of-the-art facilities for deep-sea exploration and ecological studies. Its deployment is anticipated to enhance China’s ability to monitor and understand marine ecosystems, support sustainable resource management, and contribute to global oceanographic research. The ship is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including high-precision sensors, remote-operated vehicles, and advanced data analysis systems, making it one of the most capable research ships in Asia. This development marks an important milestone in China's ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence and expertise in oceanic research.
