Chunlan recently announced a major investment plan aimed at building a preliminary support system for truck parts in the coming year. This move is part of the company's long-term strategy to enhance its supply chain efficiency and ensure better service for its customers.
During the "10th Five-Year Plan" period, Chunlan introduced a wide range of trucks, including haulage, van-type, self-unloading, canopy-style, and warehouse-grid models, with capacities ranging from 3 to 19 tons and tractions from 22 to 35 tons. The company launched six new models and over 200 variations of trucks, significantly expanding its product portfolio.
After the launch of these new products, Chunlan played a key role in enriching the domestic truck market and raising the overall quality and production standards of trucks in China. From 2002 to 2006, Chunlan trucks, especially medium-sized ones, consistently ranked among the top performers in the industry. However, due to the rapid design changes in new truck models, the existing spare parts supply system struggled to keep up. Many external manufacturers faced challenges in meeting the technical requirements for new components, leading to delays and insufficient inventory, which hindered the growth of Chunlan’s truck business.
To address this issue, Chunlan has decided to establish its own truck parts support system by combining global procurement with the utilization of social resources. This initiative aims to create a more efficient and responsive supply chain.
The proposed support system includes joint development of new parts through equity participation and technical collaboration with component manufacturers. It also involves the autonomous development of critical components like axles and gearboxes, ensuring a fully integrated and intelligent manufacturing process. Additionally, the company plans to implement synchronized design and production of truck parts to achieve a 100% match rate between vehicles and their components. Furthermore, Chunlan will set up several large-scale parts distribution centers, guaranteeing that parts within 500 kilometers are delivered within 24 hours, and those beyond 500 kilometers within 48 hours, ensuring timely and reliable supply.
