The world's first 750 kV power transmission and transformation demonstration project, which showcases a wide range of independently developed technological achievements, has achieved a remarkable localization rate of 92% for its equipment. Recently, this groundbreaking initiative was honored with the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
This advanced project is designed to efficiently transmit large amounts of electrical energy over long distances from the Gongboxia Hydropower Station in the Northwest Power Grid, as well as to construct the 750 kV transmission line from Qingting Guanting to Lanzhou, Gansu. To date, the project has filed for 6 invention patents, 17 utility model patents, and 2 design patents, with 53 patents already approved. Additionally, 20 related technical standards have been established, reflecting the project’s strong emphasis on innovation and standardization.
According to reports, all key technologies used in the project were developed independently, saving approximately $130 million in technology import costs. The planned investment for the subsequent 750 kV projects has reached 63.9 billion yuan, with all equipment sourced domestically. This not only supports the development of China's power grid but also significantly boosts the domestic equipment manufacturing industry, delivering substantial economic and social benefits.
As the project continues to expand, it serves as a model for future high-voltage transmission systems, demonstrating the potential of indigenous technological advancement in transforming China's energy infrastructure.
