House fire in Joliet, 7-19-23

From Chris Skrabel: I just wrapped up following Truck Company 9 from Joliet to this massive mansion-style house fire. It was quite an impressive operation by Joliet—they really stuck to their guns and focused on their working fire response strategy. Here’s one of the photos I took: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) And another one: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) And another: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) Here’s a wider shot of the scene: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) Another angle: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) Final shot: ![Chris Skrabel photo](#) From patch.com: Around 4:31 PM, the Joliet Fire Department received a call about a structure fire at 606 Rookery Lane. The initial responding units arrived just three minutes later, finding heavy smoke and flames erupting from the two-story single-family home. Fortunately, the property was unoccupied as it was under construction, and all workers managed to evacuate safely. The firefighters deployed multiple hose lines inside to douse the fire on the second floor. Meanwhile, other teams handled tasks like water supply, search operations, ventilation, salvage efforts, overhaul work, ensuring safety, and providing logistical support. By 5:40 PM, they had successfully brought the blaze under control. Units from Stations 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were dispatched to the scene. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. Interestingly, back in September, the Joliet City Council had already labeled 606 Rookery Lane as a public nuisance.
