The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a globally recognized organization that plays a key role in developing industry-leading codes and standards. Among its most influential publications is the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), which sets international benchmarks for the design, construction, and maintenance of boilers and pressure vessels across various sectors.
Flyability is excited to be part of the Special Working Group (SWG) focused on integrating unmanned aerial systems (UAS) into industrial inspection practices. With years of experience deploying drones in challenging environments such as confined spaces, hazardous areas, and indoor settings, Flyability brings valuable insights to the table. Our team of engineers, pilots, account managers, and partners are actively contributing field-tested knowledge to help shape safe and reliable drone inspection protocols.
As the use of UAVs for inspections continues to grow, ASME is working on a new standard within Section V of the BPVC, specifically for nondestructive testing. This initiative aims to establish clear guidelines for the safe and effective operation of UAS in industrial plants, including power generation, petrochemical, and manufacturing facilities. The SWG includes experts from leading companies around the world, ensuring that the resulting standards are both practical and forward-thinking.
