Today, members of the Chicago Police Department, including Chief of Patrol Fred Waller and Deputy Chief of Community Policing Dwayne Betts, officially revealed a brand-new look for CPD patrol vehicles. This is the first major redesign in decades, and it was created by Officer Jennifer Jacobucci. The design was chosen through a collaborative process involving both police officers and community members.
The updated vehicles feature the classic blue and white color scheme, along with the department’s well-known tagline: “We Serve & Protect.†But this isn’t just about style—it’s also about function. Each vehicle is equipped with mobile computers that allow officers to access real-time data, improving their efficiency and response times.
Additionally, the new patrol cars include enhanced lighting systems to increase visibility and presence on the streets. Some units are even fitted with license plate reader technology, which helps officers quickly identify stolen vehicles—making the streets safer for everyone.
The new fleet will be rolling out later this year, but you can already see them at the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place, running from February 9th to 18th.
