Stephen Wilcox sent in several photos taken during a house fire last month at 1N180 Cypress Lane. His commentary provided some interesting insights into the incident:
---
"This was a general alarm fire with a special callout, involving a two-story wooden structure. When we arrived, the entire back portion of the house was engulfed in flames. The Wheaton truck quickly moved to the roof, while the Winfield teams focused their efforts from the front. It was textbook stuff, just like they teach you in training.
By the time I got there—about a mile and a half away—I could already see the massive plume of smoke rising in the distance. When I finally reached the scene, the fire had been brought under control, and all that remained was smoldering debris. The photos I took capture the extensive damage to the rear, both on the outside and inside. Great work by the firefighters!"

A Daily Herald article shed more light on the incident:
"A family in Winfield managed to escape unscathed early Friday morning as flames consumed their two-story home in an unincorporated area near Winfield. The fire broke out around 9 a.m. at the residence on Cypress Lane. According to Winfield Fire Chief Phil Dimenza, emergency services arrived within approximately two minutes."
