Transparent tape-based laser-induced fluorescent bleaching for large-capacity optical storage

The research results were published online in Optics Letters on March 12.
At present, data storage mainly depends on magnetic storage technology, but it has the disadvantages of low capacity, short life and high energy consumption, and optical storage can overcome the above three shortcomings. In order to increase the capacity of optical storage, the current research mainly focuses on multi-layer storage and reduction of recording points. Although the storage capacity can be increased to a certain extent, it is always limited. Looking for new solutions to realize ultra-large capacity optical storage is the research direction and focus of researchers.
The research team proposed a new scheme for super-large-capacity optical storage based on laser-induced fluorescent bleaching based on transparent tape. A saturated solution of tetraphenylethylene, which is both colorless and fluorescent, is used to configure a saturated solution. A small piece of transparent tape after removing the glue is immersed in it, and the tetraphenylene is made by ultrasonic vibration Dissolve as much vinyl as possible. The experiment found that after soaking for a period of time at room temperature and removing the dye molecules precipitated on the surface, the tetraphenylethylene molecules will diffuse into the transparent tape due to the thermal motion of the molecules. The laser-induced two-photon fluorescence bleaching can achieve data recording. In the experiment, 6 layers of 10 * 10 binary data lattices were recorded, and data was read using a confocal microscope. Among them, different colors represent different storage depths. This achievement is the first time that AIE materials have been successfully used in optical storage, further expanding the field of application of AIE materials. At the same time, because the transparent fluorescent tape has the characteristics of small size and long size, it can realize ultra-large capacity optical storage.
