A devastating fire broke out overnight in Waukegan, destroying a two-unit home on the 500 block of McAlister Avenue. The blaze claimed the lives of two dogs and left seven residents without a place to live.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find flames spreading rapidly through the structure, taking several hours to fully extinguish. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries during the operation, but are expected to recover.
The individuals who were living in the home have been provided with temporary shelter and support by the Red Cross. Authorities are currently working closely with local agencies to ensure all affected residents receive the necessary assistance.
