New energy quickly becomes a "low-carbon advantage"

The theme pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, which is about to be grandly opened, has a single largest solar roof in the world, 96 triangles, 31,000 square meters, and an installed capacity of 2,825 kilowatts. This is a masterpiece of Wuxi Suntech Power's "tailor-made" according to architectural design. Similar works have also been applied to the China Pavilion at the World Expo. According to Shi Zhengrong, the chairman of Suntech Power, the total capacity of the two systems is 3.12 megawatts, and 2.8 million kilowatts of electricity can be generated throughout the year, replacing 1,000 tons of coal, which is equivalent to the reduction of carbon emissions by 2,500 tons – the highlight of low carbon, and is “a green expo. "Add color.

According to the commitment made by China to the international community, the proportion of non-fossil energy in primary energy consumption will reach around 15% by 2020. The new energy industry represented by solar photovoltaic, wind power, biomass, and nuclear energy will become a low-carbon one. Big driving force.

Supernormal development lays a leading edge

Low-carbon economy means energy efficient use, clean energy development and the pursuit of green GDP. As a major core of a low-carbon economy, the application of zero-emission new energy and renewable energy to replace traditional high-emission fossil energy sources is a low-carbon addition to energy input.

At this stage, coal combustion is the main "contributor" to carbon dioxide emissions. As an important manufacturing base in China, 43% of the energy consumed in our province is consumed by power generation. In secondary energy, the proportion of electricity generated by coal-fired units is as high as 90%. According to scientific estimates, for every ton of coal burned, 4.12 tons of carbon dioxide will be produced, which is 30% and 70% more than oil and natural gas. With a view to reducing the pressure on coal and reducing carbon emissions, the new energy stage is vast.

"The world's photovoltaics look at China, and China's photovoltaics look at Jiangsu." After taking the lead in the development of the previous years, our province's solar cell production is leading and well-known in the world. The photovoltaic industry in the province has more than 60 independent intellectual property rights and nearly 20 invention patents in terms of single crystal silicon drawing, key technologies for cell sheet industrialization, photovoltaic module engineering technology, and application product integration technology. There are more than 290 companies supporting each other, the province's annual battery output of 1580 MW.

After gaining leading edge in photovoltaic manufacturing, like Suntech Power, many enterprises in our province began to explore industrial extensions and carry out photovoltaic power generation. Last May, the "Jiangsu Province New Energy Industry Adjustment and Revitalization Plan Outline" was formally introduced. In June, the "photovoltaic power generation promotion opinion" was implemented. According to the plan, by 2011, the province will build 260 megawatts of roof-to-grid power generation projects, 10 megawatts of demonstration power plants for integrated grid-connected power generation, and 130 megawatts of grid-connected power grid demonstration projects. The promotion and application of solar energy will inevitably reduce the consumption of electrical energy.

Wind power, another representative of our province's new energy, is another path to reduce carbon emissions.

In May last year, the first phase of Sinovel Wind Power (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. was completed and put into operation in Yancheng. The nationwide first 3 MW wind turbines went offline and the annual capacity of wind turbines reached 2 million kW. Han Junliang, head of Sinovel Wind Power, said that the next step in development and production will be to turn to a 5 MW large-scale wind turbine that represents the world's advanced level.

Statistics show that there are more than 150 companies related to the wind power industry in Jiangsu, with the largest number of companies in the country and more than half of the key components in the domestic market.

Chen Yong, deputy director of the Provincial Energy Bureau, said: "At the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the province will complete 1.5 million kilowatts of wind power installations. By operating these turbines for one year, it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 2.2 million tons."

Leading edge does not mean low carbon advantage

Jiangsu's new energy industry is booming. However, the "rising for growth" of this new industry is also evident.

If the photovoltaic solar energy of our province is placed in the international industrial coordinates, we can see the industrial limitations of raw materials, markets, and key equipment “three out of the box”: high-purity silicon materials needed for the production of photovoltaic cells, battery modules, etc. Reliance on imports, the product has no cost advantage; Although some single crystal furnaces and other equipment with independent property rights have been developed, many key equipments still rely on imports, reducing core technologies such as furnaces, batteries, and components, which are far from the world advanced level. The application market is mainly in foreign countries, and production and operations are severely restricted by international demand. Last year, the face of the international market changed, the photovoltaic industry's exports dropped sharply, and the selling price "has plummeted."

In the wind power industry, foreign players such as high-power fan equipment and integrated systems are in foreign countries, and there is no breakthrough in wind power grid-connected technology as the only application method of large-scale wind power. The “short legs” of this industry are manifested in: small-scale wind power, high on-grid tariffs, low degree of localization, relatively backward core technologies, and lack of professional and technical personnel.

The high-carbon production in the low-carbon industry is another “time-related hazard” for new energy sources, especially solar photovoltaics. The production process of drawing and cutting of silicon rods consumes more energy and heavier pollution. According to a survey conducted by Yao Xiaoxia, an associate researcher at the Provincial Institute of Social Sciences, the current domestic polysilicon production energy consumption is 2-3 times that of foreign countries. The conversion rate of solar cells is generally low, the factory conversion rate is generally 14% to 15%, and the actual utilization is only about 11%. The high energy consumption in the production process and the low utilization of the efficiency coexist.

Jiangsu's new energy leadership must become a low-carbon advantage. Not only does the manufacturing level need to be improved, but the transformation and application of new energy manufacturing advantages are even more critical. At present, solar photovoltaic “wall flower wall outside the incense”, the result is that green low-carbon benefits in foreign countries, energy pollution has been left to their own. At the same time, the high cost, the unsatisfactory product quality, and the high price of new energy on-grid electricity also increase the difficulty of new energy promotion. It is understood that photovoltaic solar energy is currently available at 1.70 yuan per degree, wind power is 0.61 yuan per degree, and coal power is 0.38 yuan per degree.

Form a low-carbon advantage and expect a resultant force

To make use of new energy manufacturing advantages and increase the low-carbon contribution rate of new energy, the most important application is.

"The battle for a low-carbon economy has already begun quietly in the world." Tian Boping, director of the Institute of World Economy at the Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, said that in 2004, the world invested about 30 billion U.S. dollars in clean energy, and by 2008, it had increased to 155 billion U.S. dollars. .

Developed countries in Europe and the United States also regard the development and application of new energy as an important entry point for responding to the international financial crisis and leading the commanding heights of future economic development. In Europe, the development of renewable energy has become an important growth point for job creation. The number of employees employed by renewable energy companies is 2 to 10 times that of coal-fired power companies. The United Kingdom proposes that by 2020, 40% of electricity will come from clean energy such as solar energy and wind power.

Wind power development and utilization in European countries such as Denmark, Germany, and Spain all lead the world. According to Gu Weidong, dean of the provincial macroeconomic research institute, wind power generation in Denmark is equivalent to 22% of electricity consumption. Green electricity is used not only in China but also in Norway. Germany's wind power installed capacity accounts for one-third of the world's total. This year, the ratio of wind power to total power generation will reach 8%.

Looking back at Jiangsu, in recent years, the low-carbon results of new energy applications in our province have been shown, saving about 6 million tons of standard coal throughout the year. Since the 10th Five-Year Plan, the proportion of coal consumption has dropped by 5.4 percentage points. “Our province is one of the leading provinces in the country with abundant wind resources and wind power industry development. The annual output of wind power is only about 1.2 million kilowatts, accounting for less than 0.3%.” Gu Weidong said that in the future, the province's new energy development and utilization of space is huge. Of course, this requires the improvement of the level of manufacturing, the promotion of policy guidance, and the removal of relevant professional and technical obstacles.

The reporter noted that last year, our province intensively formulated a series of new energy industry policies. After the introduction of the new energy industry adjustment and revitalization plan outline, two sub-plans for the smart grid industry and the new energy auto industry are being developed. Focusing on low-carbon targets, photovoltaic solar energy will reduce costs through technology research and development, and expand its application through leveraging financial subsidies, tax incentives, etc., and strive to achieve “one dollar per unit of electricity.” Wind power relies on the smart grid industry to accelerate development and accelerate the realization of stable access to the Internet; from a new energy manufacturing province To use the province, Jiangsu is worth looking forward to.
