Golmud has one million tons of methanol production capacity

Qinghai Zhonghao Natural Gas Chemical Co., Ltd. produced an annual methanol production capacity of 600,000 tons at the end of June in Golmud and successfully produced a qualified methanol product. This indicates that the Golmud region already has an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of methanol.
As early as June 1999, Qinghai Oilfield built a 100,000 ton/year methanol and natural gas chemical production facility at the Golmud refinery, which initially achieved a transformation from a resource advantage to a benefit advantage. With the substantial increase in natural gas production, the newly-built 300,000-ton methanol plant at Golmud Refinery in Qinghai Oilfield was successfully put into operation in September 2006, bringing the annual methanol production capacity of Qinghai Oilfield to 400,000 tons.
On January 6, 2007, Qinghai Zhonghao Natural Gas Chemical Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 2.1 billion yuan, broke ground in Golmud with an annual output of 600,000 tons of methanol project. This project is a key project for the comprehensive development and recycling of natural gas resources in the Qaidam Circular Economy Experimental Area. Its successful trial production indicates that the Qaidam Circular Economy Experimental Zone has taken a new step in the organic integration of the oil and gas chemical industry and the salt lake chemical industry, extending the oil and gas chemical industry and the salt lake chemical industrial chain, and further promoting the Qaidam circulation. The comprehensive development and recycling of natural gas resources in the economic pilot area has played a positive role in promoting the development of the Qinghai-Tibet economy.
