India imposes trade protection tax on rubber antioxidants

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the Indian Customs issued an announcement on August 30, 2011, deciding that a trade protection tax should be imposed on the import of N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine.


The tax rate shall be levied 30% from the price. If the dumping tax is levied at the same time and the dumping tax is subtracted, the time limit for collection shall be one year from the date of this announcement. One year after taxation, 25% is levied on ad valorem. If dumping tax is levied at the same time, dumping tax is subtracted and the tax period is 2 years.


The announcement states in particular that this taxation notice does not apply to products imported from developing countries. The developing countries referred to do not include China.


On June 6, 2011, the Indian Trade Safeguards Bureau finalized the ruling that the continued growth of imports of N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine has caused damage to related domestic manufacturers in India.
