Since its launch, the Ford EcoBoost engine was named one of the best engines of the year by the American authoritative automotive magazine Ward's AutoWorld in 2009. The Ford EcoBoost engine combines the synergies of three key technologies: high-pressure direct fuel injection, advanced turbochargers and dual independent variable valve timing systems. The EcoBoost engine can effectively increase fuel economy by 20% while reducing CO2 emissions by 15%.
Ford once said that Ford EcoBoost engine technology will be widely used in a variety of models from small cars to heavy trucks. By 2012, Ford Motor will achieve annual production of 1.3 million EcoBoost engines per year. By 2013, 90% of Ford models worldwide will be equipped with EcoBoost engines.
