The choice of soil pH measurement method is a frequently debated issue. In general, one of the following three methods can be selected:
Fine Mud pH: Add a sufficient amount of distilled water to the soil sample and stir into a very fine paste. Insert it for 5 minutes. Read after 15 to 20 seconds.
Take the instrument indication. Note that the electrode should be fully washed between measurements.
Soil and water 1:1 suspension pH: Place 20 g soil sample in a 50 ml beaker, add 20 ml distilled water, and agitate the suspension several times, each time

Water saturated soil pH value: Add a small amount of distilled water to the soil sample and mix it with a spatula to form a water-saturated soil paste.

If the sample hardens or loses its luster, add water to remix it. If the paste is too moist, add some dry soil. After the sample is prepared
Insert the electrode into the paste to increase or decrease the electrode position until a reproducible pH reading is obtained.
All of the above three methods can give a reproducible result, but the data obtained from different methods of the same sample are slightly different, so the soil pH is reported.
