This is from Eric Haak:
They got this one out really fast, and with the temperatures being so low, I didn’t stick around for too many extra photos.Shortly before 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, Chicago’s 17th Battalion Chief was dispatched to a fire report on the 5700 block of South Indiana Avenue. While en route, the Englewood Fire Alarm Office received calls that there were people trapped on the second floor, which escalated the response to a "Still and Box" alarm. The first due engine was only five blocks away, and Engine 84 arrived on scene in under two minutes, reporting a fire on the second floor of a 3-story, 30x70 ordinary apartment building. If you weren't within a few miles, there wasn’t much to see—fire was confined to just one unit of the six-unit building.I arrived as Truck 51 was raising their main line to the roof, and within minutes, the fire was completely out. All searches came back empty. Seven adults and six children were displaced, but a family cat miraculously survived. When I left, the soot-covered and water-drenched pet was returned to its grateful owner. It initially looked like it wasn’t going to make it, but then it started moving and seemed okay. The still companies involved were Engine 84, Engine 47, Truck 51, and Truck 30. I think the box engines were 50 and 16. I included a photo of Engine 50 since it's the oldest active engine in the fleet.
