2-11 Alarm fire and a Level 1 Hazmat, 9-8-22

The Chicago Fire Department (CFD) responded to a fire at 7934 S Hoyne Ave. Upon arrival, crews found a large single-story commercial building, measuring 50 by 150 feet, fully engulfed in heavy flames. The fire was quickly contained, and a 2-11 alarm was issued with a Level 1 Hazmat response as a precaution. Multiple explosions occurred, followed by a complete roof collapse. At the peak of the incident, six master streams were in operation, including two tower ladders, two deck guns, one snorkel, and one Blitz unit.

On-scene units included:

  • Engines: 15, 28 (W 9-1-5), 64, 73, 101, 116, 121, 122, 123, 129
  • Trucks: Tl24, Tl39, T40, T41, T50, T51, T59
  • Chiefs: B-6, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; DDC 225; DC 2-1-10, 2-1-22, 2-1-24, 2-1-25, 2-1-33, 2-1-9; and many more unknown

  • Media: 4-1-9, 4-1-10

  • OFI: 4-6-8, 4-6-7
  • EMS: 4-4-12, 4-5-6, 4-5-8, A58, A30, A18
