PEEK spray equipment will exceed the glass bottle

At the end of last week's acetic acid and its derivative technology market seminar, the development trend of a PEEK powder coating equipment was closely watched. This kind of steel-plastic compound reactor is superior to traditional glass-lined reactors in terms of high temperature resistance, strength, and other important indicators, and is expected to replace precious metal equipment and reduce project cost. The reporter learned yesterday that the research and development unit of this technology, Jiangsu Taicang Magneto Drive Pump Co., Ltd., is stepping up efforts to perfect the manufacturing process and is expected to launch this new type of equipment on the market next month.

According to the person in charge of Taicang Magnetic Pump Co., Ltd., the company started developing a technology for spraying PEEK on metal surfaces in 2000. The method they developed for spraying metal surfaces with PEEK powder was granted a national invention patent in May this year. At present, the company is in-depth research and development of PEEK powder spraying metal products surface technology to produce steel-plastic composite reactor, storage tanks, pipe fittings, heat exchangers, towers and other products. Among them, the steel-plastic composite reactor will be first introduced next month.

It is understood that the current maximum temperature for the use of glass-lined reactors used by chemical companies is 180°C, and the use pressure is below 0.6MPa. The bending strength of PEEK material at 200°C can be as high as about 24MPa, and the bending strength and compressive strength of PEEK material can reach 12-13MPa at 250°C. Large-size glass-lined equipment usually requires thicker walls to reduce the amount of deformation, and PEEK coating equipment does not need to be so, so this equipment is a device that consumes less steel. At the same time, PEEK also has excellent metal adhesion properties.

Experts believe that the application of PEEK spray carbon steel reactor can eliminate the phenomenon of glass-lined reactor explosion porcelain, with high temperature, fast heat transfer, long life, low maintenance costs and other advantages. In addition, the corrosion resistance of this equipment is superior to various precious metals in a variety of environments and can be used to replace precious metal equipment to significantly reduce investment costs. Therefore, both companies and experts are looking forward to the development of this technology.

According to reports, PEEK is a special high-temperature resistant thermoplastic polymer material developed and produced by Vigers of the United Kingdom in the early 1980s. Jilin University mastered the process technology and began production in the early 1990s. Due to its advantages of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high mechanical strength, and good toughness, the material has been widely used in machinery, electronics, aerospace, aviation, and automotive industries. In recent years, Japan has used PEEK thermal spraying technology to produce a steel-plastic composite reactor and applied it to the chemical industry.
